The doors continue to open…

Mandate is excited to be sending a team member to both Vietnam and Cambodia for three weeks in May. The purpose of this trip will be to explore additional opportunities to expand Mandate’s presence within Vietnam, as well as explore new partnerships in Cambodia and beyond.

Vietnam sits at No. 20 on Open Doors’ World Watch List of countries where Christians face the most persecution. The organization we are going to visit in Vietnam are using three different businesses as a platform for ministry amongst this growing persecution. They work in three different rural areas outside of Da Nang, and operate an English school, an Eco-Resort within an organic farm, and a homestay. Their vision is to ensure viability and sustainability for government purposes through successful business projects, while at the same time creating employment, training, and discipleship for those coming from poverty stricken villages or difficult to reach mountainous regions.

Like Vietnam, Cambodia is a country that is increasingly closed to traditional missionary work, but open to well-trained development experts. Here we will be visiting a ‘homestay’ that is working with the Khmer people, who are listed as "unreached" by the Joshua Project. This organization not only trains Khmer people in the hospitality industry, but it doubles as a discipleship school for them.  While training them with skills that will help them break the cycle of poverty in many of the rural areas where they live, they are also equipping them with the truth of the Gospel.
